Parade Guidelines

The parade will step off promptly at 12:00 p.m. at the Leman middle school bus entrence, on Joliet St. All parade units must assemble at the assigned starting locations at 11:00 a.m in the lot designated spot.


Lineup positions will be determined by the event coordinator, we will attempt to accommodate requests, as is possible based upon special needs. (Not everyone can be in the front of the parade.)


Units in the parade should attempt to maintain even spacing not to exceed 20 feet between entries. (Please advise us if special spacing is required.) Motor vehicles must be operated in a responsible manner.


Animal Entries : All animal entries MUST provide their own clean up crew!!!!


"Antique" vehicles entries must be 25 years or older Newer model vehicle entries will be limited to 5 vehicles at the discretion of the committee.


Application information: A narrative of each entry must be submitted with the parade application for broadcasting of the parade. Please include the information about your business/organization and entry. No narratives will be accepted the day of the parade.


Handouts: Items to be distributed during the parade MUST BE APPROVED IN ADVANCE by the committee. Please note on the application what you will be distributing keeping in mind that these items often end up in the hands of small children. Approved items should be HANDED OUT, NOT THROWN.


The use or possession of ALCOHOLIC BEVERAGES by participants in the parade is PROHIBITED ! NO SMOKING IS ALLOWED IN THE PARADE. Water devices will be prohibited.

The Mexican Cultural Center retains the right to exclude your entry if these rules are broken.

Participant Waiver

Waiver and Hold Harmless Agreement


To the fullest extent permitted by law, the undersigned hereby agrees to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless the City of West Chicago, Mexican Cultural Center of DuPage, West Chicago Fire Protection District, the West Chicago Park District, and their officials, agents and employees, against al injuries, deaths, loss, damages, claims, suits, liabilities, judglments, cost and expenses (including attorney’s fees), which may in anywise accrue against the City of West Chicago, Mexican Cultural Center of DuPage, West Chicago Fire Protection District, the West Chicago Park District, and their its officials, agents an employees, arising in consequence of participation in the activities relating to the Mexican Independence Day Celebration/Parade to be held September     , 201  , or which may in anywise result therefore, except that arising out of the sole legal cause of the City of West Chicago, Mexican Cultural Center of DuPage, West Chicago Fire Protection District, the West Chicago Park District, or their its officials, agents and employees. The undersigned shall, at its own expense, appear, defend and pay all charges of attorneys and all costs and other expenses arising therefore or incurred in connections therewith, and, if any judgment shall be rendered against the City of West Chicago, Mexican Cultural Center of DuPage, West Chicago Fire Protection District, the West Chicago Park District, or their its officials, agents and employees, in any such action, the undersigned at its own expense, will satisfy and discharge the same. The invalidity or unenforceability of any of the provisions hereof shall not affect the validity or enforceability of the remainder of this Agreement. The undersigned represents that he/she has full authority to execute this Waive and Hold Harmless on behalf of the name Business/Organization.
